At the midpoint of 2026, the freight recovery is finally visible in price. The more consequential signal is in valuation, where public markets and private buyers are already underwriting an inflection that has not yet reached most sellers' reported earnings.
The trucking M&A market appears poised for a more active second half of 2026.

Transportation & Logistics M&A activity picked back up in June, with 32 transactions rebounding from May's dip and landing just below April's four-month high. The past three months have stayed within a similar range, suggesting the market isn't trending sharply in either direction.
Strategic acquirers continue to account for the largest share of deals this year, and technology/software has now edged ahead as the leading sub-sector year-to-date, narrowly outpacing 3PL/forwarding.
